This is an original painting I hand painted titled, “Refreshment in the Rain.” I painted it in a Japanese inspired watercolor style, allowing unexpected mark-making, yet a very realistic representation of Vanda orchids. I originally took the photo reference for this painting in the garden on the south side of Kauai, at the Prince Kuhio condos. The colors are very soothing and harmonious, and the background is playful.
My family recently went through many challenges, and God brought me relief on the rainy days that occurred during the hardships when the grey of the sky made the color of the flowers pop. The sight of the flowers allowed me to breathe a sigh of relief. I want to offer the same for you.
It is ready to hang as-is with the hardware I attached to the back, or can be framed at a shop of your choice. I have also signed it. It measures 11”x14.”
